Rate-paying businesses that have not yet received any rate relief during the pandemic may be able to claim a rate reduction this financial year, under a new Conservative led Wiltshire Council scheme.
The COVID-19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF) targets rate-paying businesses that have been adversely affected by the pandemic and have been unable to adapt to that impact. The council has been awarded £8.4 million to provide this additional support.
This new relief is available to rate-paying businesses that have not yet had any rate relief and meet the eligibility requirements. It is not available to businesses that were eligible for the retail, hospitality and leisure relief or the nursery relief. It will also not apply to landlords of unoccupied properties.
Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of the council and Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said:
We want to support in any way we can, and that's why our officers are working hard to ensure this much-needed rate relief is delivered to the right local businesses.
Any rate-paying business that has not yet received rate relief during the pandemic should check our website to see if they're eligible, and if they are, they should complete an application form right away, so we can get this financial assistance to the Wiltshire businesses that need it.
We have already paid more than £177 million in business grants during the pandemic to support Wiltshire businesses through this difficult time, and we will continue to do all we can to support them.
To apply, businesses should go to COVID-19 additional relief fund (CARF) and carefully read the instructions, before completing and return the application form if they meet the criteria.
